Aizel grinned as Kratos passed through the doorway. "Wow.. Three lives.. It must be nice. I wonder if I'm on my second one.. Or if I'm still on my first one," she joked. Surely I didn't die.. That's rediculous.

More than I, if truth were told,
Have stood and sweated hot and cold,
And through their reins in ice and fire
Fear contended with desire.
Agued once like me were they,
But I like them shall win my way
Lastly to the bed of mould
Where there's neither heat nor cold. But from my grave across my brow
Plays no wind of healing now,
And fire and ice within me fight
Beneath the suffocating night

"First," Kratos said, smiling. "Immortal beings, from Heaven or Hell, have wings. You don't...And be thankful that you aren't on any other phase while you're down here. It's not nice. It isn't much fun being down here after you've been up there..." He shrugged. "But you didn't want to hear about that, I forgot...Anyway..." he looked around for a free waitor.

One came over to them. A waitress, in fact...

"Just two?" she asked. Kratos nodded. "Alright, then follow me," she said, and turned to lead the way.

Some say the world will end it Fire.
Some say in Ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor Fire.
But if I had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate,
To know that, for destruction, Ice,
Is also great,
And would suffice.

Aizel rose an eyebrow, but shrugged the idea away. "I guess... I just want the idea of choosing between the light and the darkness in every human being. Choosing.... It changes everything... And I'm just not ready to choose. I don't want anything to influence my decision.... That's all... I think," she explained, not sure if what she said made sense. "I'm not sure if I just said something very idiotic.. or excessively intelligent," she added with a smile. Yeah, surely he thinks your insane. "Surely not all dead have wings."

"I'm not dead," Kratos corrected, following the waitress. "Death is temporary. I died twice, but I was reborn into a new life, like everyone is. Wouldn't you want wings?" he asked, glancing back at her. "I would hate to be stuck on the ground. It's like being two-dimenional in a three-dimensional world...By, the way, stop doubting yourself," he added. He smiled. "It's kinda starting to bug me. Be sure of something if you're going to say it."

"Your table," the waitress said, indicating a small table-for-two she stopped at.

"I am sure of myself.. I don't doubt how I feel.. or think... Whether it's the correct way to think or feel... That's what I doubt," Aizel said. "I guess it would be nice to have wings.. but.. I've never had them.. so I can't miss them, now can I?"

"Never said you did," Kratos said, seating himself and gesturing to Aizel to do the same. "But doubting whether your thoughts and feelings are the correct ones is exactly what I was talking about. Well...Actually, I was talking about doubting your words. Which is what you keep doing. I don't think you've said more than four sentances to me since we've met without tagging on a question about your sanity, the wording of your sentances, or expressing a concern about how something may not havr come out right." Kratos smiled. "Just relax, Aizel...I am an incredibly unassuming person, and you need not be so concernd about your image around me."

The waitress waited politely for the two to finish and the girl to sit.

Aizel blinked blankly at Kratos for a moment. Actually... I'm like that all the time.. but.. if it gets on his nerves... maybe I can prevent myself from doing that. She laughed for a moment, sitting down. "What an interesting way to put things.. I never realized I did that until just then," she said with a smile, picking up the menu.

Naive and trusting as always, Kratos tilted his head curiously. "Really? That's never bothered anyone else before?"

The waitress cleared her throat. "Excuse me, but would you two like something to drink?" she asked, passing out a pair of menus.

Aizel took the menu, glancing over the beverages. "Just water, thanks," she said, setting the menu down a moment. "Well... I guess I wouldn't know.. But, as far as I recollect, no." What shall I eat? Something a bit less pricy.. She opened the menu once again, peeking at the options. Hmmm... I nice salad sounds good.

"Can I get an orange juice?" Kratos asked, feeling the need for a bit of citrus.

The waitress nodded to the two of them. "Sure. I'll be back in a minute or so with your drinks." She disappeared.

Kratos turned back to Aizel. "That's surprising. I thought it would have bothered more people..." He shrugged. "Maybe it's just me."

Aizel laughed quietly. "You're only the third person I've actually spoken to long enough to notice," she said with a quaint smile. "I don't remember speaking to anyone else....So, if someone else noticed... I wouldn't know, now would I?"
